Josephine combines her keen intellect with strategic and practical matter management to deliver positive and personalised outcomes for her clients.

  • Biography

    Josephine holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Master of Applied Law (Family Law). She has been with Kennedy Partners since 2013, coming to the firm with 10 years of family administrative experience, and has practised exclusively in family law since admission. Her work on religious issues in family law has been published in the Australian Family Lawyer and was a finalist in the inaugural Michael Taussig QC Family Law Essay Awards. She has co-presented at the School Law Conferences on family law issues affecting schools and has contributed to several other published papers.

    Josephine is a member of various organisations including the Law Institute of Victoria, the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, Victorian Women Lawyers, the Australian Italian Lawyers Association and ALTO. She is a long-standing volunteer lawyer at the Family Law Clinic of the Fitzroy Legal Service.

    Josephine understands all families are different and the dynamics, motivations and issues within each one varies. She is well-equipped to assist clients of all demographics and to provide sound and practical advice to achieve an outcome which suits their needs and minimises conflict. She is, at the same time, a strong advocate for her clients both in negotiations and where court action becomes necessary.

    Josephine’s skills and experience spans a broad range of financial and parenting matters, and ancillary issues, including a de facto relationships, financial agreements, family violence and intervention orders. Her involvement in financial matters has traversed easily identifiable property to highly complex corporate structures, and matters where overseas assets, taxation issues, undisclosed assets or trust/sham arrangements feature (notably, Foster & Cotter & Anor [2016] FamCA 1038). She has particular skill in understanding niche valuation concepts and methodology and finance arrangements.

    Josephine has an insightful and considered approach to family parenting law and has experience in a wide range of matters including high conflict parties, relocation, change of care, sexual abuse allegations, special needs children, specific parental responsibility issues and parental alienation.
